OUR COMMITMENT

Grace Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  As such, we support many programs of the synod and ELCA, and are committed to sharing our offerings so that ministries beyond our walls and bigger than our abilities, may be carried out.                 

Additionally, we know there are many meaningful ministries outside of the ELCA that help people in our country and around the world.  Locally we support Soup or Socks, by collecting food and clothing for their pantry.  At Christmas, we have our special  Giving Tree that the youth decorate with tags listing needs and individual wishes provided by Wood County Social Services, Lutheran Social Services and other community based agencies. By Christmas, it is bare of tags and full beneath with gifts. The purpose of the Giving Tree is to improve the life of folks in our communities and by doing so, point to God’s generosity in our own lives.

Our Grace Care Fund supports the Wood County Social Services department by providing food/gas cards for families who have crisis needs.  Additionally the Care Fund supports individuals who find themselves in need occasionally. We also support the Clark County Div. of Aging through this fund at Christmas time.

The outreach goes farther.  We support Heifer International each year through our Vacation Bible School.  We eagerly support our synod’s companion relationship with the Lutheran Church in Malawi.  We have a direct connection with Dr. Jean Reed in Uganda, working with Christian Veterinary Mission.  She was a local veterinarian who has committed her life to mission work, sharing both her veterinary knowledge and Christian faith.  

All of this grows out of our grateful response to Jesus Christ, and the love shared with all people and us. We try hard to live gratefully, committed to the message of Jesus.
